the ditty Jean from Aberdeen recited is from a very old and well known song -thought I'd commemorate the moment by putting it on a sticker. I've already put a few around bus stops. Most won't have a clue about the Jean from Aberdeen reference but the rhyme is very memorable and it pushes back against ageism, and as we know ageism and woman hatred come in the same misogyny packet!
"Ye Cannae Shove Yer Granny Aff A Bus is a traditional Scottish poem and song for kids and people of all ages. About: "The author of this short poem is unknown but he/she certainly struck a chord with many people, especially in Glasgow."
I sometimes wonder what I'm doing with this substack of mine, but one of the things is to archive our movement (cause they'll make like it never existed) and to collect the creative emphemera - also my own campaigning creations inspired by our GI push back
I lived that ditty! Thanks for sharing this I was curious about the lyrics. The video you used is also very brilliant, a great piece of TERF art ❤️
