Scroll down to hear Jean from Aberdeen reciting it in her scots accent.
The ditty Jean from Aberdeen recited is from a very old and well-known song - thought I'd commemorate the moment by putting it on a sticker. I've already put a few around bus stops. Most won't have a clue about the Jean from Aberdeen reference but the rhyme is very memorable and it pushes back against ageism, and as we know ageism and woman hatred come in the same misogyny packet!
"Ye Cannae Shove Yer Granny Aff A Bus is a traditional Scottish poem and song for kids and people of all ages. About: "The author of this short poem is unknown but he/she certainly struck a chord with many people, especially in Glasgow."
I sometimes wonder what I'm doing with this substack of mine, but one of the things is to archive our movement (cause they'll make like it never existed) and to collect the creative ephemera - also my own campaigning creations inspired by our GI push back
If you want some of these stickers, 14 to a sheet just message me for the PDF. - I nearly said PHD, and I’ll send your way for home printing onto Avery labels/or generic
